Sunny Sky Counseling is seeking a Professional Counselor to join our team and work with children, families, individuals and couples. We are seeking two people to join our team. We offer contract (full or part time) as well as full time employee positions (with benefits). We are seeking teammates with a passion for serving individuals/families from a variety of backgrounds in the way that will best meet their personal needs. We want professionals who love being part of a team and believe that understanding and addressing emotions in a healthy way leads to stronger communities, families and individuals.

Sunny Sky Counseling has been in business for eight years in SE Portland and we are thrilled to be expanding and growing!

Our mission is to foster positive ways and healthy habits to better cope with the stressors in life, which promotes a better living environment and well-balanced, supportive communities and families.

Sunny Sky Counseling provides therapeutic services to families, couples, and individuals through a variety of modalities. Sunny Sky Counseling is an integrationist practice, which means we believe in incorporating various theories and interventions into our practice to suit the needs of those we are serving. The approach utilized is based on client need, fit and is facilitated with the client.

We currently offer individual, family and group sessions along with consultation and behavioral treatment plans.

Who You Are:

You are compelled to partner with your clients and assist them in making meaningful long term positive changes to their lives. You are Licensed in the state of Oregon. You bring a team and client focused mindset to your work, are highly motivated, and a great communicator and relationship builder, with the confidence and experience to exercise sound judgment and work independently. You are comfortable working in a small practice that is growing and changing, in fact, you are excited to be getting involved early in our growth and want to leave your mark on the organization and possibly grow with it as we grow. You have a commitment to diversity and inclusion with a desire to work for equity and family stability. You have excellent instincts for connecting with people, and a deep desire to protect the integrity and carefully cultivated brand position of Sunny Sky Counseling.

You are either craving a contract position with flexible hours so you have time in your life for other important things OR you are looking to start in a full time employee position with benefits. You want to offer the kind of service to clients that comes from a private practice and you’d rather do that without taking on the risks and expense of building your own business.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional service to our clients and team including:

  • Assess individual needs and goals

  • Develop and execute on treatment plans

  • Ability to effectively deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions to clients (individuals, couples and families) with varying levels of motivational readiness for change.

  • Participate in strengths-based consultation and supervision groups.

  • Maintain attention to detail and timeliness in professional documentation.

  • Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA standards.

  • Complete activities required to maintain a license in good standing, to practice therapy in the State of Oregon.

  • Adhere to the applicable associations’ code of ethics (AAMFT, APA, NCC, ACA) and State of Oregon’s laws and rules (OPA, OBLPCT, BLSW).

Qualifications and Skills

  • Active licensure in Oregon as an LPC, LCSW, or LMFT.

  • Interest in working both independently and as part of a collaborative team providing exceptional therapy to outpatient clients.

  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues.

  • Open to professional and clinical feedback and interested in working in a supportive and collegial clinical environment.

  • High level of self- awareness, and demonstrable ability to manage transference, countertransference and clinical anxiety with confidence.
